Rainy Day Essentials

Happy Monday!

Well, it's raining in MN today and it's supposed to rain all week! I can't complain, though, because the grass is greener, the leaves are blossoming and the salt is being washed off the roads... Spring is here! April showers bring May flowers, am I right? :)

In celebration of April showers, I have put together some of my rainy day essentials to help me enjoy the day. Rain is soothing to me... is it to you?

Rainy Day Essentials

Rainy Day Essentials by aishalc featuring Bodum

1] Fun Cup or Tea or Coffee. I am definitely a tea drinker, and I always try to find cute tea cups that I can add to my collection just in case they come in to some good use on a rainy day like this :)
2] A good book/devotional. One daily devotional I love is Jesus is Calling. It is such a great daily reminder that Jesus loves us and has great things for us each day!
3] Hot liquids or soups. Nothing like a hot cup of cocoa on a cold day and nothing like some good soup or tea on a rainy day :)
4] A bunch of pillows. Nothing said cuddle like some good pillows and a blanket. My couch and bed are filled with pillows!
5] Nail polish. This is a great opportunity to get a new nail color!
6] Good movies. A rainy day is not fulfilled without watching a great movie.

What rainy day essentials are on your list?

Happy Relaxing!

7 Days of Happy Day 5// My Spring Must Haves

Happy Monday!

One thing I love to do sometimes is just enjoy a nice iced coffee when it's nice out and either update my blog, browse the internet, chat with friends, look up youtube videos or just relax.

Today, I fulfilled that happiness and went to one of my favorite coffee shops and decided to just enjoy the weather and friends :)

Afterwards, I enjoyed some hot yoga. One of my favorite things to do!

I had hardly eaten all day, so I also squeezed in a little egg white sandwich :) lol

I think I enjoy coffee shops so much because it reminds me of Europe. So many days we would go enjoy a Cappuccino and chit chat. I cant WAIT to go back.

Along with bringing in Spring with iced drinks, I have also had Spring Shopping FEVER!

What are some of your top Spring picks this season?

Here are some styles I love. Take a look:

Spring Fever

1] I love wedges. They are one heeled shoe that is most the time so comfortable and so fashionable for warm weather.
2] Blouses that accentuate the waist (see above). When a shirt is loose but tightens at the waist, it gives your body a natural curvy look and makes your waist look smaller. It also adds detail to your outfit! An absolute love!
3] Stylish Skirts/Shorts. Shorts can become so plain, but I love the shorts I have been seeing above this season. Its more like a skort (can you believe it!??). I like it because its a short you can dress up very easily.
4] You can NEVER have too many accessories. My rule of thumb is there are 4 main places to wear jewelry. Ears, Neck, Wrist and Fingers. My rule of thumb is to wear up to 3 out of the 4 places. Sometimes if you wear too much jewelry, it can take away from the outfit than add to it.
5] A good pair of shades. Such an easy way to accessorize an outfit :)

I hope you had a great start to your week!

Negative Degree Fashion

It is SO cold in MN! It is getting down to -10 today.

The second you get outside all your mind thinks about is going back inside, lol. This kind of weather makes me extra thankful for a warm home and having our heater working!

I have said how much I love fall fashion because of the colors and layering- same goes for winter. But when it's this cold, you have to be creative about how to stay warm and remain "in style".

Because I am one that has to be creative, I have created a collage on some must haves to stay warm and fashionable!

Take a look:

Negative Degree Fashion

1) A good hat. I like to wear the stylish beanie hats because they cover my ears and arent heavy on my head.
2) Good earmuffs! I like fur ones because they are fashionable and warm!
3) Good boots. Sorel's are the "it" snow boot here in MN this year and boy do they keep their feet warm.
4) Good leather gloves. Leather blocks out wind so I like them the best. Plus, they keep my hands warm!
5) A good scarf. Not only is a scarf a fashion accessory, but they help if you don't have earmuffs or dont like wearing hats.
6) Warm socks! Believe it or not, sometimes I will wear a pair of fuzzy socks to work and then switch out of the boots and socks into heels when I get into the office. Thats how cold it gets!
7) A good pair of tights. I even wear tights under my work pants because its simply another layer of clothing. It is a must to wear tights in the winter anyway- because bare legs against -10 degrees is unbearable!
8) There are such things as warm, fashionable boots. These are a pair of Sorel's that arent only warm, but more fashionable if you arent interested in the traditional winter boot.
9) Not surprising, you need a good coat. My coat weighs a good few pounds and is wool. Leather coats are also good because like I mentioned, they blog wind. I like my coat because it has an option to cover the neck if it gets really cold. Also, when its a longer coat, it helps to cover your legs better for us ladies that have to wear tights.

These are my top picks... what are yours?

What are your secrets to staying warm??

xoxo,
A

40 Days // 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways Day 9!!

Happy Monday!

The weekend went too fast! Here in MN we got snow all weekend and it was FREEZING! We are fortunate to have working cars, a warm home, and soup & warm drinks to go around! ha ha! :)

This weekend was so fun! I got to help throw a baby shower for LovelyLadyJB (www.lovelyladyjb@blogspot.com)- she is welcoming a beautiful baby girl in January! I am so excited to meet her. Make sure to check out her blog for updates on her bump!

I also learned a new makeup technique! I usually don't wear a lot of makeup because to be honest, I am just lazy lol but this weekend I got dolled up.

I got my hair done too! I got red lowlights in my hair.... bold for me but I love it! I was going to post pictures but I can never get good lighting.

40 Days Update:

Well- there is just over a full day left of my 40 days. & I am so pumped! Jesus revealed so much to me yesterday and told me He was going to reveal so much more in the next couple days. He asked me to do a couple things so you know I am being obedient! Even in the final days He is testing me! But I love it. It is so refreshing to be finding things out about Him- which in turn helps me find things out about myself.

He is showing me how beautiful we really are. & to see myself through God's eyes is overwhelming. I have never known a love like this before.

That is all I am going to share for now! I will have a final update when it is finished!!

Now onto Day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways!

This look is inspired by Olivia Pope off Scandal :) With fall here... you get the chance to pull out some of your best fashion looks. Olivia loves to dress up her look with jackets, bags and some good shoes. I love the edgy look and I think this captures a sense of edginess but still professional. So Olivia

Already getting ready for fall....

Happy Saturday Everyone!
How was your week??

I am so glad its the weekend! Time to relax and do things for you!

Although its still summer, I am already thinking of fall colors, fashion and trends (its my favorite fashion season). So today I had an appointment with my hair stylist and and decided to bring fall colors into my hair- so I did rich red/purple lowlights with a rich dark tone color. I am excited too because I decided to sport bangs again!

What do you think??

I love sporting bangs in the fall/winter time because the you don't have to worry about sweating or humidity like you do in the summer so they are easier to manage and style!

Tonight is date night with my love so we are going to our favorite spot again, Benihana! lol
I love spending time with him. He makes me laugh so much! After 8 years he still knows how to make me laugh so hard- could you imagine how many inside jokes we have? lol

For date night, I wanted to do something similar to this pictured outfit. I think I got pretty close from what I had in my closet. I like it because its a perfect summer outfit. :) Take a look.

Here is my copy...

Dress & belt: Forever 21. Shoes: Target. Bracelet: Charming Charlie. Watch: Michael Kors.

Its not exactly the same, but I am glad that picture could inspire this outfit- because I never wear this dress! But its so cute!

I hope everyone has a great rest of their weekend and Ill be posting soon!

Summer Beach Day/Night

I was on the lake all day with my dad- SO fun! I used to not be a fan of printed pants but I am slowly falling in love with them. What do you think? I also think the tie tops are perfect for the beach or boat because that way you can show a little skin but not feel overdressed while soaking up the sun!
